About Us

AKM Glitters Company Limited was founded in 2006 by Ms. Elizabeth Swai. AKM Glitters Company Limited deals with Integrated Poultry business with a goal of trading and promoting small holder chicken farming business in rural Tanzania.

The founder requested for an early retirement from United Nations to start poultry business in 2006. Worked with UN for 16 years. While working she was keeping backyard poultry. Started with 250 birds. To date she manages her own company.

 

 

AKM Glitters has wide outreach of farmers, had partnered with government, Vocational Centers and Agriculture colleges, Nationals Security Schemes and financiers. The company is establishing pool of extension officers in Agriculture focusing on poultry, established in 2007 as private company limited, owned by three Tanzanian shareholders with offices in Dar es Salaam and operations in many regions of Tanzania.

Elizabeth Swai

Founder & Executive director
Elizabeth worked for 15 years with UNHCR and UNWFP prior to venturing into poultry business. She has academic qualifications in Human Development, entrepreneurship. Her passion as a social entrepreneur is inclusive development that touches the lives of the society in particular women and the youth. Her work has enabled thousands to access employment, food and nutrition through poultry keeping. Elizabeth as a leading woman in the poultry industry in Tanzania her work has received various awards including Change Driver Award, Impact Award, Women of Achievement in Agribusiness award and Malkia wa Nguvu 2019 and First time in Tanzania the Agriculture Award 2019. She has also featured in the book of the best women entrepreneurs of Africa as a role model to watch. Her love for work is her personal drive towards satisfaction of the one she serves and that of her own. Ms Swai is a Founder Member of African Agribusiness Academy, Africa Women in Agribusiness, a member of Professional Poultry Association, Feed Mill Association and a Vice Chair of Poultry Breeders Association, Executive Board Member Tanzania Business Council – Livestock Sector.

Mr Placid provides Consultancy on Management, Performance and Forensic Audit to ensure ethical delivery of fiscal and good governance policies as an effort for the contribution to economic development of the company.
